Tiyanna Preston D1 Signing
Tiyanna Preston officially signed to continue her college volleyball career at the D1 level with Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, FL.
Preston served the ESCC Lady Weevils as an outside hitter. She was one of the first team members scouted for the returning program, which began again Fall 2022.
“A big benefit of being here at the JUCO level is to get those first two years out of the way and get more ready and more prepared for the next level,” ESCC Coach Vanessa Howell said. “She did a great job for us and was a big leader also.”
She’s already making waves with the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. Howell shared a statement from Bethune-Cookman Volleyball Head Coach Brittany Williams: “Ty has been a great addition to our program this spring. She brings a steadiness and maturity to a young program. We’re excited for what the future holds for her in the Wildcat program.”
Preston complimented her new team at Bethune-Cookman. “I really like that everyone wants to be champions, and I really want to be a part of something like that,” Preston said. “Everybody has such great energy and wants to be better.”
She also thanked her Lady Weevils family for her experiences while at ESCC. “I want to say thank you to [Coach Howell] for always pushing me, and believing in me, and knowing that I could be better than I was when I came in.”
Tiyanna had a total of 700 kills over her two years at ESCC. She was also named to the First Team All-Conference player in 2022, Volleyball Player of the Week in October 2022, and took part in the Gulf South District Tournament in 2022 and 2023 with the Lady Weevils. The team received the Runner Up plaque in 2023.
