Bio

Chris Christian is entering his first year as the head men’s and women’s cross-country coach for
Enterprise State Community College.

Running has played a significant role in his life and sees he it as a foundational sport that helps to
develop courage, perseverance, teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy competition. Chris developed
his running acumen and knowledge participating in cross-country and track field in high school
competing at the varsity and state qualifying level all four years and running NCAA collegiate cross-
country as a top 3 conference finisher.

He was born in 1983, in Bethlehem, PA, and attended Norwich University Military College of Vermont
where he earned a BA in Computer Information Systems and was commissioned as a 2 nd Lieutenant in
the US Army. Chris entered the Army and moved to Enterprise, Alabama to train as a helicopter pilot at
FT Rucker. He served for 12 years on active duty, deploying in support of military operations in Iraq and
Afghanistan. Chris left active duty and continued his service through the US Army Reserves where he
currently holds the rank of Major. He went back to school attending Wallace Community College in
Dothan, Al where he received an AAS in Physical Therapist Assistant which he currently provides health
care services in the Wiregrass Area.

Chris’s coaching attitude is focused on commitment, determination, and heart. The trials of running can
and are often daunting but ultimately rewarding and character building. Cross-country is a team sport
made up of individual performances, but the fundamentals of success are found in the team. Growing
together, encouraging and challenging one another, all oriented towards the same goals. Trials of miles
and miles of trials.

Chris is married to Pamela Christian of North Andover, MA. They have 2 children, Gwendolyn 6, and
Daniel 4.
