Covid Changes for Fall Athletic Seasons
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Boll Weevil athletics will see some changes this fall. The NJCAA and the ACCC have made slight changes to fall athletic seasons to ensure student-athletes safety while also allowing teams to compete.
Boll Weevil basketball will see the brunt of these changes by moving their season to January. Rather than starting in November, ACCC basketball will begin on January 22nd and will see each team play 22 games in 8 weeks. Of these 22 games, each team will play their conference opponent twice. Teams will also be limited to playing only in-state opponents outside of their conference schedule. Fall practice for basketball can begin on September 14th and finish on November 22nd. During the fall practice schedule, teams are allowed to play 5 scrimmage dates against other in-state opponents.
Baseball and softball only saw minor changes to their fall seasons as their start date for scrimmages and practice has been moved back to September 14th. Baseball is allowed 14 scrimmages and softball is allowed 7 dates to play. Both sports are to conclude practice and scrimmages by November 12th and are only allowed to play in-state opponents during this time.
